The Past Week

Ah, it was a wonderful week having my family out to visit. I dropped them off at the airport this morning (really early I might add) and now life has returned to normal. It is kind of sad, because this will probably be the only trip they take to LA while we're living here, but tonight I will do laundry and all of the other tasks that were neglected this past week and I am actually looking forward to it. You can only have fun for so long before life's responsibilities call you back to reality.

Unfortunately they brought rainy weather with them from Michigan. Sunday was the only day that didn't rain a single drop. We had a great time anyway. We spent a day at Universal Studios, went to Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Downtown LA, Chinatown and of course, Pasadena. The week was filled with sightseeing, shopping, eating out, watching movies (including a prescreening) and constant laughter. My brother is hilarious and kept everyone laughing the entire time.

I am sad now that they are gone, but I get to go visit in June for a week, so it will only be about 2 months before I see them again. It was strange to have family out here because it really made me realize that life is going on without us back home. Not that I thought it had stopped, but guess I pictured it being the same as when we left, and it seemed the same when we went home for Christmas. Now I really see how much my brother and sister are growing up and how much things have changed. My brother will be off to college by the time Luke is done with school here.

Life is passing so quickly. I want to enjoy every second of it and make the most of all of my time here. We are so blessed to have such wonderful families who love us so much. For those of you that live close to your families, don't take it for granted.

Oh my sweet N. It's just as weird to think that your life is moving on without us! I promise we'll try to keep it on pause as much as possible. :)

except the weather. warm would be a good thing to fast forward to. At least here. there it's probably toasty while you're sipping ice tea under a palm tree sitting by the sea (or ocean...had to make it rhyme some how). :)

But when you do live close to those you love, you don't really love them as much

That's a weird comment, ejm...

Is that just your experience or are you trying to make a generalization? I don't think I love my family less being far away. I would remember them more and possibly be closer emotionally if I was closer geographically.

Not that I would move in a million years. But still.
